Tesamorelin is a synthetic peptide that stimulates the pituitary gland, releasing more human growth hormone. Growth hormone targets the liver, increasing release of insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1). As humans age, we produce less growth hormone, which means less IGF-1. Low IGF-1 causes weight gain, reduced muscle mass, decreased stamina/performance, and fatigue.
